Amey are a large construction and infrastructure company that have a wide range of operations in various sectors. They have a large fleet of over 800 HGVs in a variety of categories. Amey have traditionally provided an assortment of training for their staff they are continuously exploring new industries and have large operational requirements. In 2016 they began to realise that HGV licence acquisition must be treated as it’s own category of training.

DHL decided to provide upskilling training to its current staff to meet the demands of its ever-growing customer base and the company opted to outsource to a specialist training company after realising that in-house LGV licence acquisition was too complex and difficult to manage on its own.

Telford College Jobcentre Plus Driver Programme

Since April 2017, working closely with regional employers and agencies, contacts within Jobcentre Plus and other training partners, Telford College have run numerous driver training sector-based work academies which give individuals the step-up into the industry they need.

Prior to their Class 2 training, learners receive three weeks of full-time classroom-based training to prepare them for employment, covering personal development and employability skills, customer service, whilst the second and third weeks focus on warehouse and storage, and driving goods vehicles.
